CBT Therapy is a structured and scientifically proven talking therapy which is effective in overcoming a wide range of psychological health difficulties including but not limited to depression, generalised anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder, OCD, panic, agoraphobia, phobias, low self-esteem, health anxiety, anger and poor sleep.
CBT works by using scientifically tried and tested psychological techniques to change connections between how we think and how we behave in order to change how we feel. CBT is usually focused on a time-limited basis but can also be extended over a longer term period to address difficulties rooted in a number of adverse life experiences.
Evidence shows CBT is more effective than many other forms of psychotherapy and has been subject to numerous rigorous scientific trials. This research has also been endorsed by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) who provide independent advice to the NHS.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR is endorsed by the NHS and works by enabling the mind to heal itself from psychological disturbance in the same way the body heals itself from physical trauma.
EMDR can be used to treat a range of psychological difficulties, including post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety, OCD and phobias and provides a relatively fast and effective psychological treatment. The treatment not only focusses on past experiences that may result in disturbance in the present, but also focusses on building resilience for the future so that a person achieves a state of complete wellbeing.
EMDR has also been used to effectively support athletes, performers and leaders to reach peak performance by removing psychological barriers rooted in the past and allowing their future potential to be fully realised.
